Weather
The Gem received ~25″ of new snow over the last 48 hours. Steamboat Lake wx station showing low-moderate winds from the West, none of which affected the snow surface as it was blower pow. Skies overcast to obscured all day. Snowing all day at rates upwards of 2″/hour at times. Temps started at 15F at the parking lot and rose to mid-20’s by mid-afternoon.

Snowpack Observations
Snowpack depth 150-180cm. Snow surface ~50cm unconsolidated storm snow and no wind affect.
Snowpit at 9600′, 34*, HS170cm. CT11 Q2 (RP) @ 50cm. ECTX. Progressive hardness F- to 1F (top to bottom). Thin melt/freeze layer @ 60cm. Mid pack facets appear to be rounding. Basal facets and the overall the snowpack showing signs of healing.
No results ski cutting test slopes and rollovers. No signs of instability all day.
Travel was difficult with all the new snow.
